Yesterday I went to split up one of my favourites folders which had gotten a little bloated at 37 pages of fav's. So I decided to move half the contents into a new folder. Easy peasy; it's something I've done often over the last four years because lets face it; nobody wants to work their way through humungous fav folders!
So I did it like I always do. Move over one page at a time until it's done. Should have taken about 30 to 40 minutes max. BUT after about the 5th or 6th page move, I suddenly get a message on screen saying I've exceeded the number of fav's I can add in a certain amount of time! WTF???
First I'm not adding any fav's! I'm SIMPLY MOVING THEM!!! Second, when I check the new folder over 80% of that page of fav's is GONE! It's not in the new folder yet it's been removed from the old folder. In other words deviant arts has simply eliminated them! Try again with half a dozen fav's, same error message and only two appear in the new folder while all six disappear from the old. Damn am I pissed.
Through trial and error, I find that it seems to crop up after about four or five pages and I have to wait up to about an hour or so between each attempt. So obviously DA has instituted some new asinine policy without bothering to warn us or tell us what in hell it is or how it works? And couldn't be bothered to check to see if it would accidentally delete user's own previous favs? Therefore a routine splitting up of a single folder took me most of a day and the loss of about 4 pages of fav's that I can never recover! (Since I don't know which one's were deleted. They still show up in my overall favourites count and listings even though they're gone!) Thank you very much Deviant Arts!
Sooooo for whichever DA cretins thought this was a great idea and even worse either could not be bothered, were too lazy or too stupid to make sure it wouldn't delete previous favs (probably all of the above)....... I place on you the following Gypsy curse! That your car refuse to start on the coldest day of this winter, that your girlfriend dumps you and that you get the worst case of the flu you've ever had in your entire life!
So if you wish to escape this curse; get off your fat asses and FIX THIS !!!
Yah like that's going to happen! sigh........ So a warning to anybody moving fav's around from one folder to another. Don't do more than about a hundred or so at a time and be prepared for the possibility of loosing up to 5 to 10 percent of them permanently!

Just a wee tip!
For those not familiar with my DA Home page. I have always designed my webpage for the 16 x 9, widescreen, full frame (F11) viewing standard. Be it a laptop, monitor, tv or whatever. Obviously you can view it in any ratio you or your equipment prefer. But for ease of use and overall composition. It will always look its best as close as possible to the high definition, widescreen, 1080 x 1920 pixel standard.
Finally a decent home page!
After a couple of years of steady improvements, I think I've finally managed to build a decent home page? Attractive but not overbearing, informative and complete without being needlessly complicated. Plus a background pretty and simple that won't distract from the main works. And everything easy to update as needed. Yes I think I can live with this for a while?
Milestones to Celebrate!
MILESTONES TO CELEBRATE! Back on Aug. 17th, 2017, I posted Part 1 of a little tale that I called 'The House on the Hill' and which I figured would probably be about a dozen episodes long and take maybe three to four months to complete? Boy was I ever wrong! And now on the fourth anniversary of what came to be called 'The Charlotte Chronicles' it has morphed into a two volume series of over 212,000 words and ninety-nine parts and I'm nowhere near the end! Though as Winston Churchill once famously said, "It is not the beginning of the end but it may be the end of the beginning," as I labor on to finish out this second volume of this series called 'Charlotte's New Home'. Guess time will tell? This is not the only milestone I will be celebrating this weekend either as it is also my tenth year on Deviant Arts. And I have now recently passed the 150,000 pageviews mark, have also passed the 150 deviations mark and have now reached 500 watchers to top it off as well! All of which I
My continuing storylines will be delayed!
Just a heads up that the next few parts of my "Charlotte's new home" series could be considerably delayed! As I've had to spend all of the last month or so updating and configuring a brand new computer system. Not to mention hours upon hours learning all the quirks and new features of Windows 10 and last but definitely not least coping with and recovering from cataract surgery on my left eye which made reading and viewing the monitor a difficult thing to do. So bear with me until I get caught up with my writing. Which hopefully will be before I have to get the second eye done? At which point it will start all over again....... :slow:
